 NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES INFORMATION
REBORN IN A TUNNEL
I have read in your column about people who have so called 'near death experiences' which is universally described as 'travelling down a dark tunnel towards a bright light'. Could this not necessarily be the soul entering the afterlife but the experience a person may have as they are reborn as a baby? The light at the end of a tunnel seems more reminiscent of birth than death.
Rebirth would explain why so many people have the feeling of having done something before or having the feeling of having been somewhere before, when knowing for a fact, that they have not.

After the tunnel experience many people go on to describe how they see the world of the afterlife and meet their loved ones who have gone before them. This suggests that the tunnel experience is the soul's entry into the afterlife and not a new earthly birth. However, the Tibetan Buddhists believe that a person after death can either enter one of the heavenly planes, merge with the infinite or immediately enter a new womb.
